Eskom is gearing up for a cleaner, smarter transport future. Electric vehicles (EVs) are here, and they’re more than just cars; they’re part of a larger determination to reduce carbon emissions and protect our planet. Here’s how Eskom is helping to drive this change.
At the recent #SolarAndStorageLive Africa 2025 conference, Aletta Mashao, Senior Manager of Engineering at #EskomDistribution, delivered an inspiring talk on the future of electric vehicles (EVs) in South Africa. She highlighted how access to charging stations and smarter energy use will make e-mobility more accessible for everyone through partnerships with both the public and private sectors.
By 2030, South Africa could have around 300,000 electric vehicles on the road. This means that we will need thousands of charging stations to keep up. Eskom is working with various stakeholders and using smart planning tools to improve the infrastructure for a greener future.
